What is ACAM ?
The American Counseling Association of Missouri (ACAM) is an organization of counseling professionals who work in diverse settings, including schools, hospitals, residential care facilities, community mental health agencies, the military, government, business and industry, and private practice.

ACAM counselors have a wide variety of specialties, include marriage and family therapy, clinical mental health, substance abuse, school and college counseling, disability and vocational rehabilitation, career development, trauma and grief counseling, geriatric and pediatric counseling, business and personal coaching, psychotherapy for personal growth, as well as other specialties.

ACAM is a state branch of The American Counseling Association, www.counseling.org. It was founded as the Missouri Personnel and Guidance Association (MPGA) in 1969, and after several intermediate name changes, in 1996 became The American Counseling Association of Missouri, emphasizing its connection with ACA.

Upcoming Events
Information and registration forms for the 2009 ACAM Educational Conference are now available on the "Conference" page of this website.

This three-day event will again be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, April 30th through May 2nd. The hotel is offering a conference rate of $79 per night.

As was the case in 2008, 20 CEUs will be available over the three-day span. ACAM is pleased to be able to offer all Missouri counselors this opportunity to network, socialize, learn, and fulfill Missouri CEU requirements at very modest cost.
